A Christmas Performing Arts Showcase (10th December 2015)
Performed by the pupils in years 5 and 6 - Heron, Red Kite, Eagle, Osprey, Falcon and Chaffinch Classes on Thursday 10th December.
Our guitar and violin group demonstrated their skills. Eagle class delighted all with a wonderful rendition of ‘Rocking Around the Christmas Tree’. Chaffinch class performed a short play called ‘A superhero for Christmas’ - on the day it was announced that Mr Buckle was the author, this was incorrect! The talented Mrs Collins wrote the script, a sequel I believe to the festive version of ‘Call the Midwife’ premiered last year. Osprey performed ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’ including a dance routine with Sian starting as Rudolph and Miss Willis doing an amazingly quick costume change from a reindeer to Santa in about 3 seconds! Sinead then sang Birdy – Wings, which was fantastic! Red Kite class delighted the audience will a ‘Frosty the Snowman’ Dance, wearing great costumes. Heron and Falcon classes paired up and performed two acts – firstly a rendition of ‘Jingle Bells’ performed using hand bells and other musical instruments (that looked a bit like lightsabres!) and secondly ‘Whip Sleigh, Sleigh’ which showcased the boys’ synchronicity and street dance skills. Our talented choir sang ‘Let It Go’ and ‘Mistletoe and Wine’ All of our Years 5 and 6 pupils and staff stood on the stage and sang the Christmas anthem from Slade, rocking out with inflatable guitars!
I would like to thank all of the staff involved. They clearly have worked really hard to prepare the pupils and thanks to the pupils themselves for being confident enough to perform. A huge thank you for the audience participation in ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’. It certainly made me think!
We raised an amazing £160.10 towards our whole school trip at the Christmas Fayre after the Christmas Performing Arts Showcase -Thank you for your generosity!
